Flight Mode Annunciators

Description

Flight Mode Annunciators (FMA) are displayed on five columns at the top of the PFD. They show the flight modes that are armed and the flight modes that are currently active. The active flight modes are the modes that both the Flight Director and Autopilot rely on. These are useful as they can tell you what the aircraft is doing.

The active flight modes are displayed in Green text. The armed flight modes are displayed in Cyan text. After a mode change, the FMA will display a white box around the new annunciation for 10 seconds.

Each of the 5 columns at the top of the PFD will display different types of Flight Mode Annunciators. You can learn more about each annunciator by clicking on each column on the PFD below.

There are also some annunciators that take up two columns. These can either be Special Message Annunciators or Common Mode Annunciators.
